Roadworthy Certificates and Pre-Purchase Inspections

Sunshine Wheel and Mechanical Repairs provide fixed price roadworthy certificates as well as pre-purchase inspections from our workshop in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. Established 10 years ago, we’ve gradually moved into providing more mechanical services for our customers, who’ve noticed our attention to detail when working with their wheels, and asked if we’d start servicing their cars. For roadworthy certificats, we follow all safety certificate guidelines as specified by law to ensure your car is safe to drive and thus eligible to be sold as a registered vehicle in Queensland. Safety Certificate Inspections:

Roadworthy inspections, known as Safety Certificate Inspections in Queensland, are required to be obtained for any used registered vehicle being sold. We follow all safety certificate procedures as specified by the Queensland Government, and our thorough roadworthy inspection will check that all components of your vehicle are safe for use on public roads. Roadworthy certificates are valid for 2000km or two months, whichever comes first.

Your roadworthy inspection is comprehensive to ensure it is safe for use on roads, and we’ll perform checks of:

• Brakes
• Suspension
• Chassis, including accident repair
• Oil leaks
• Safety components such as seatbelts
• Lights and wiper operation

If your car passes the roadworthy inspection without any major failures, a roadworthy certificate will be issued for your vehicle, allowing you to sell it as a registered vehicle. If not, we’ll give you a list of faults requiring attention, and an estimate for how much they’ll cost. We ask that you drop your vehicle off in the morning to ensure that, if there are any faults that need to be corrected, we can have your vehicle back to you by the end of the day.

Pre-Purchase Inspections:

If you’re buying a used vehicle, even if it already has a roadworthy certificate, we encourage you to take advantage of our pre-purchase inspection service to ensure that the car is in a roadworthy condition and worth the asking price.

We’ll do a complete, comprehensive check of the vehicle, including a road test to identify any problems, as well as providing you with a list of the maintenance requirements that may be relevant in the near future.

This comprehensive check includes:

• Check of tyres and brakes
• Engine compression test
• Suspension and Bushings check
• Engine wear check, including belts
• Engine Control Unit (ECU) diagnosis including an diagnostic scan and thermal image check
• Panel and chassis inspection for evidence of accident repair

Our team of technicians leave nothing to chance in their evaluations and thoroughly inspect the vehicle from top to bottom as if they were buying it themselves. You’ll get a list of items requiring attention after the inspection is performed, and we’ll make a recommendation on whether the vehicle is worth buying, depending on the work required and the price being asked.
